It’s widely believed that everyone loves Paris in the springtime. Yet for those who take advantage of our SmartYacht yacht share ownership option, you might want to turn your sights further south during this time of year. Spring is the perfect season to discover the delights of the Principality of Monaco.
While Monaco is a wonderful place to visit all year round, like Paris it comes alive and gives off a special glow in the spring. As the weather warms up and the days grow longer, it is as if the tiny sovereign state nestled between France and Italy finally awakens after a cosy winter – and doesn’t go back to sleep again until the long nights begin to close in.
Skis and snowboards are returned to the cellars. Weekend chalets are firmly locked. And, residents in and visitors to turn their attention to the wonderful events Monaco has to offer during April and throughout the spring.
The Principality may be the world’s second smallest state, after the Vatican City, but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in substance. Berth your yacht share vessel in the stunning Port Hercules marina this April and discover the plethora of cultural and sporting events hosted in Monaco.
Here are three events taking place in Monaco this April that those of you on yacht shares in the Mediterranean are not going to want to miss.
The Printemps des Arts Festival
This annual musical extravaganza takes place every year throughout the spring in Monaco. The Printemps des Arts Festival is actually a series of classical concerts, held at various venues across Monaco. In 2018, it will run until the 29th of April.
These musical performances feature world-class musicians from all over the globe. Highlights this year include an evening of Mozart – which will occur on Easter Sunday and be headlined by the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment – and a Stravinsky Concerto, to be held between April 26th and 29th, which will showcase accompaniment by dancers from the Ballet de Monte-Carlo.
The Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters
This stellar tennis tournament will be played from April 14th to 22nd. The Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters is the first of three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments that are held on clay each year.
The tournament is a lasting favourite with both players and fans, due, in large measure, to its incredible location at the Monte-Carlo Country Club, which overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. Some of the marquee players expected to participate in this year competition include number two seed Rafael Nadal, as well as, emerging stars Marin Cilic, Grigor Dimitrov and Dominic Thiem.
Top Marques Monaco
Billed as the world’s most exclusive supercar show, Top Marques Monaco will take place in and around Monaco’s conference centre, the Grimaldi Forum, between April 19th and 22nd.
This event is almost mandatory for any yacht share owner with a passion for cars, as it is one of the only truly “live” auto shows, meaning visitors are given the chance to test drive the supercars on the F1 circuit. There is also a section dedicated to the incredible timepieces of haute horlogerie, the most exquisite jewellery and the latest must-haves. Plus, there’s even a section where you can check out the latest super boats.
