Amid the glorious sunshine and the futuristic skyscrapers that make Dubai one of the most luxurious and beautiful places in the world, it is easy to forget one of Dubai’s most highly prized assets: its incredible marina and the wondrous yachts that frequent it. And with the Dubai International Boat Show being one of the foremost events on the yachting calendar, we are once again, about to be treated to a glimpse of some of the world’s most luxurious vessels that are available to purchase and charter.
This year’s Dubai International Boat Show will take place next week from 28th February to 4th March 2017. It will be the 25th edition of the prestigious show and it’s expected that 800 exhibitors will attend and provide all manner of entertainment for appreciative visitors. Not only will yachts be displayed, but there will also be room to indulge in water sports, including kite surfing, sailing, fishing trips, jet surfing and many more. Last year’s event was attended by 30,000 visitors who experienced the fantastic yachting infrastructure that exists in Dubai first hand. It was a storming success and, while highlighting some incredible vessels to brokers, it also went a long way in demonstrating why United Arab Emirates and other Middle Eastern countries remain a valuable asset to the yachting world.
The five-day show will be held at the Dubai International Marine Club, Mina Seyahi. This year about 850 companies and brands from 60 countries are expected to take part in the show, including 87 new participants. The show will host 38 global and regional launches and will feature 19 superyachts, including the Silver Yachts’ 77-metre Silverfast, the 70-metre Joy by Feadship and Gulf Craft’s 47-metre Majesty 155. The local shipbuilder Gulf Craft, one of the world’s top ten superyacht shipyards, is preparing for a spectacular line-up and multiple global launches in celebration of its 35-year anniversary.
While extreme sports may not be to everybody’s taste, in true Dubai style the crowds are bound to be treated to some incredible stunt shows and events. There will be more competitions like last year’s popular underwater photography competition. Last year, the Beach was another highlight, which showcased a picturesque section of the boat show, in which visitors could try out the fantastic water sports on offer while enjoying the entertainment, food and drinks with the whole family. This year, the area will be expanded and those willing can participate in lessons in sailing, stand up paddleboards, windsurfing, jet surfing, kite surfing and kayaking. There will also be informative talks on kit and rigging.
The Dubai International Boat Show has grown dramatically and is now one of the top events of its kind. the recently announced Dubai Harbour has forced the region into the spotlight and propelled its level of innovation and global recognition. This project will bring 1,400 new berths to Dubai and allow superyacht owners to berth with ease in the region’s largest marina.
